The UW-Milwaukee Panthers swept the 2007 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Butler University at the Michael A. Carroll Stadium on the IUPUI campus.

 

UW-Milwaukee's Darren Cole claimed the men's triple jump with a mark of 49-03.00.  Cole also won the event in 2005.  UIC's Idara Essien defended her title in the women's triple jump with a leap of 39-04.50, setting a League Championship record.

 

UWM's Amber Curtis set the Horizon League Championship record in the discus with a toss of 162-08.  UWM's Nick Gretz took the discus title with a distance of 174-02.

 

Loyola's Marcia Faustin completed a Horizon League Championship sweep in the high jump, winning her fourth consecutive title, and eighth overall when including the indoor finale.  Faustin's mark of 5-07.75 was four inches better than second-place finisher Jenni Saarinen (5-03.75).  In the men's high jump, UWM's Quinn Mongoven took the League title with a jump of 6-05.50.

 

Nick Gretz won his second event of the day, claiming the men's shot put title with a League record-setting mark of 59-05.75.  Youngstown State's Bethany Anderson won her third consecutive League shot put title with a toss of 45-05.00.

 

UW-Milwaukee swept the 4X100 Meter Relays, with the men crossing the finish line in :40.66, setting a League Championship record.  The Panther women finished in a time of :46.75.

 

Butler's Andrew Toward won the men's 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:50.15.  Isabelle Stoate also picked up some points for the Bulldogs in the 1,500, claiming victory in 4:41.62.

 

UWM's Adam Schleis defended his title in the 110 meter hurdles, crossing the line in :14.57 topping his own League Championship record.  In the women's 100 meter hurdles, Youngstown State's Aaliyah Gillespie claimed her third career title in the event with a time of :14.79.  Gillespie had previously won the event in 2004 and 2005.

 

UWM's Tyler Bucholz won the men's 400 meter dash in a time of :48.48, while Kelsey Conrad claimed the title on the women's side for the Panthers in :56.05.

 

UW-Milwaukee sprinters Trentin Edwards and Timeka Walker swept both the 100 and 200 meter dash.  Edwards had a time of :10.66 in the 100, while Walker set a League Championship record in the event with a time of :11.81.  In the 200, Edwards crossed the line in :21.38, Walker finished in :24.31, as both athletes slightly missed record times.

 

UWM's Jeremy Majors won his third consecutive 800 meter title, finishing in 1:51.97.  BU's Genni Gardner won the women's 800 meters in 2:13.10.

 

In the men's 400 meter hurdles, Loyola's Tom Andreoni claimed victory in a time of :54.11.  UWM's Taryn Cozine took the women's 400 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 1:03.72.

 

In the men's 5,000 meters, Butler's Justin Roeder was the first to cross the finish line in 15:09.83.  Loyola's Amanda Domich won the women's 5,000 meters in 17:36.39.

 

The UW-Milwaukee men set a Horizon League Championship record in the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 3:12.64.  The Youngstown State women won the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 3:47.48.
