No. 2 UW-Green Bay picked up the most impressive win on the day by eliminating No. 1 UIC with a 5-3 victory under the lights on Friday evening at the Ashwaubenon Sports Complex in Green Bay, Wis.

The Phoenix came out of the gates quickly as Rebekah Oestreich homered in the first at-bat of the game. UW-Green Bay tacked on two more runs in the first inning to increase its lead to 3-0. The Phoenix increased their lead to 5-0 in the top of the fifth on a pair of RBI doubles by Dana Brockman and Oestreich.

The score remained the same heading into the bottom of the seventh, but the Flames would not bow out quietly as Sara Hernandez homered to right field to make the score 5-3.

Lisa Meissner (8-6) closed the door on the Flames as she quickly grabbed the third out and recorded the victory for the Phoenix.

UW-Green Bay was led at the plate by Oestreich who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
