Top-seed UIC advanced into the semifinals of the loser's bracket with a 7-1 win over No. 7 Wright State on Friday at the Ashwaubenon Sports Complex in Green Bay, Wis.
The Flames pushed their lead to 4-0 by the beginning of the fifth inning, when the Raiders finally scored to make the score 4-1. With the score sitting at 5-1, UIC tacked on two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a Cameron Astiazaran two-run home run to extend its lead to 7-1.
Brittany McIntyre (21-13) picked up the win after giving up only one hit in five innings of action.
The Flames were led at the plate by Astiazaran who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored and Sarah Hernandez who went 4-for-4, including a solo home run.
