The Horizon League has launched www.horizonleague.mobi as the newest site for up-to-date information regarding the League, its member institutions, student-athletes and championships, Horizon League Commissioner Jonathan B. LeCrone announced Thursday (Feb. 1).

Designed for the burgeoning handheld market, www.horizonleague.mobi displays content in a made-for-mobile internet format geared toward smaller screens, with simple, clean graphics and easy navigation.

The premier feature of the new site is streaming and downloadable video of Horizon League men's and women's basketball, including plays of the week and player-of-the-week highlights. Also currently available on the site are men's and women's basketball scores and standings as well as other information about the League and its member institutions.

"The new horizonleague.mobi site is another way we are using developing technologies to reach fans and alumni with current information and free video about our teams, our student-athletes and our championships," LeCrone said. "The new dot-mobi site presents information in a simple, easy-to-use format for anyone on the go."

Planned improvements for the site include video highlights of all League championship events, other sports' standings, the Horizon League's bi-weekly audio report and other special features.

The new dot-mobi site is the newest addition to the Horizon League Network (HLN) multimedia experience that provides conference fans with unrivaled access to free audio and video of League sports. During the 2006-07 academic year, HLN will offer free, live streaming video of more than 230 events, including more than 200 men's and women's basketball regular-season and tournament games.
