INDIANAPOLIS -- Loyola University Chicago claimed the top seed for the 2007 Horizon League Softball Championship after going 14-5 in League play, finishing three and a half games ahead of second-place Cleveland State University. The title was the Ramblers' fourth in program history and first since 2003.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday (May 10) at Viking Field in Cleveland, Ohio. Opening-round action has (#2 seed) Cleveland State (8-6 Horizon League, 29-12 overall) facing (#7 seed) Wright State University (8-10, 21-33) at 9 a.m., followed by (#3 seed) University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (9-7, 17-21) going up against sixth-seeded Butler University (7-8, 24-22) at 11 a.m. Action continues at 1 p.m. when (#4 seed) University of Illinois at Chicago (8-7, 18-31) takes on 2006 tournament champion (#5 seed) Youngstown State University (7-7, 16-20), while Loyola (14-5, 20-19) plays (#8 seed) University of Detroit Mercy (3-14, 11-29) at 4 p.m. to wrap up the opening round.

Game 1: No. 2 Cleveland State vs. No. 7 Wright State - 9 a.m.
Game 2: No. 3 UW-Green Bay vs. No. 6 Butler - 11 a.m.
Game 3: No. 4 UIC vs. No. 5 Youngstown State - 1 p.m.
Game 4: No. 1 Loyola vs. No. 8 Detroit - 4 p.m.
