Chicago, Ill. - Senior Ann Deelo and junior Jennifer White were named ESPN The Magazine Second Team District V Academic All-District this afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The duo represents the first two Loyola women's volleyball players to ever earn the award.

Deelo broke the school's career digs record on Sept. 2 against Illinois and now holds the top three spots on the Ramblers' single-season digs chart with a record 541 digs to date this season. White has developed into one of Loyola's steadiest back-row players and one of its most effective servers this season, totaling 198 digs and 25 service aces for the season.

Both have managed to strike the balance between intercollegiate athletics and academics, with each excelling as double majors. White carries a 3.98 grade-point average in accounting and finance while Deelo possesses a 3.76 GPA in finance and economics.

Loyola wraps up its 2006 regular season tonight when it battles Illinois-Chicago at 6 p.m. at Alumni Gym. The Ramblers will then travel to Dayton, Ohio next week for the Horizon League Championship to be hosted by Wright State.

Indianapolis, Ind. - After performing at an outstanding level both on the court and in the classroom, sophomore volleyball player Nina Inic was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District V Third Team. The organization made the announcement on Thursday (Nov. 9).

Inic is currently one of the top defensive players in the Horizon League this season, pacing the conference with 5.66 digs per game in league contests. She also leads the Bulldogs with 352 digs in 91 games this year on a .907 reception percentage. Her 35 digs against UW-Green Bay on Oct. 13 was a career-best and was tied for the fifth-highest single-match total in school history.

In the classroom, the economics major touts a 3.97 cumulative grade point average, the fourth-highest among the 21 members of the All-District V teams.

"Nina is such a fabulous and outstanding student-athlete," head coach Sharon Clark said. "She really is the epitome of what makes a student-athlete and is such a deserving recipient of this award. She takes so much pride in her work, both academically and athletically, and she is a wonderful person to be around since she works so hard in everything she does."

The Bulldogs close out the regular season at home this weekend when they welcome UW-Milwaukee to Hinkle Fieldhouse on Friday (Nov. 10) for a 7:00 p.m. contest before hosting UW-Green Bay for Senior Day on Saturday (Nov. 11) at 4:00 p.m.
