On Thursday, the Loyola University Chicago women's softball team took a break from the books, bats and balls to spend the day with at-risk youth. We spent the afternoon at Murphy Elementary School in Chicago with the organization, Girls in the Game.

Girls in the Game provides and promotes sports and fitness opportunities, nutrition and health education and leadership development to enhance the overall health and well being of girls from disadvantaged or underserved communities. Together we played football, read about strength and nutrition, created healthy snacks, fashioned crafts, and danced the afternoon away.

This volunteer opportunity once again helped the Rambler Softball family to realize how fortunate we are for the amazing gifts in our lives. Serving as role models and working with young girls in at-risk communities allows everyone to recognize what an honor and privilege it is to be a Division I female student-athlete at a prestigious academic institute like Loyola Chicago.
