With one of the most storied traditions in college basketball, Loyola University Chicago will take the time to recognize a special group of standout student-athletes from the 1950s at its Dec. 9 game versus Loyola New Orleans. Fifteen players, including 12 Loyola Athletics Hall of Fame members, will be saluted at halftime of the Dec. 9 game and those individuals will also be honored at a post-game reception.

Loyola's current team will be wearing replica 1950's jerseys that day and those uniforms will be auctioned off to fans. Sample jerseys are currently posted in the northwest and south lobbies in the Gentile Center. This will be the fifth all-time meeting between the fellow Jesuit schools and the first since the Ramblers' 1963 NCAA National Championship season.

In addition to the recognition of the 1950s All-Decade Team and the auction of the jerseys, Loyola will be donating money raised from the sale of the jerseys to a Loyola University New Orleans Katrina Relief Fund that has been created to aid those affected by the destruction of Hurricane Katrina last year. For more information on the game or auction, please contact the Loyola Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at (773) 508-2560.
