Loyola University Chicago junior guard Majak Kou has earned a roster spot on the Canadian U21 National Team that began play at the Jack Donohue International Classic Monday in Mississauga, Ontario. The four-team field features Canada, Greece, China and Australia with games running through July 28.

The Jack Donohue Classic is a preparation for Canada's appearance at the U21 FIBA World Championships in Argentina, Aug. 5-14. Kou is one of eight NCAA players on the Canadian squad, joining Levon Kendall of Pittsburgh and Pierre Cespedes of Gonzaga, among others. Canada faces Australia tonight to kick off the tournament.

Kou had an impressive season for the Ramblers as a sophomore, averaging 10.6 ppg and 2.7 rpg, while shooting a team-best 38 percent (48 for 128) from three-point range. Arguably the team's best defender, the lanky 6-foot-5 guard swiped 1.4 spg in 2004-05.

Last summer, Kou competed for Canada at the U21 Tournament of the Americas. He is one of three current Ramblers to participate in international competition this summer, joining Pierre Parker (France - U20 European Championship) and Kye Pattrick (Australia - World University Games).

Loyola finished the 2004-05 campaign by winning nine of its final 13 contests and the Ramblers placed fourth in the Horizon League race during the regular season.
