Male Swimmer of the Week

 

Chase Gravengood

UW-Milwaukee

Jr., Oconomowoc, Wis.

Gravengood provided UW-Milwaukee with three individual wins and participated on three winning realys, helping the team to a second-place showing at the Doug Coers Invitational. Chase won the 200 IM (1:57.34) before sweeping the butterfly events, completing the 100 in :52.87 and the 200 in 1:57.05. In the relays, he helped the 400 free, 800 free and 400 medley teams to wins and settled for second in the 200 medley relay.

 

Female Swimmer of the Week

 

Molly Finn

UW-Milwaukee

So., Pewaukee, Wis.

Finn helped lead the UWM women to a second-place at the Doug Coers Invitational. She started off with a third-place effort in the 200 IM (2:12.05), then took second in the 400 IM (4:41.80). In the final individual event of the meet, Finn won the 200 butterfly in a season-best 2:09.08. She also participated in two relays with the 400 medley taking second along with the 200 medley relay.

 

Male Diver of the Week

 

Mark Pappalardo

UIC

Sr., LaGrange, Ill.

Pappalardo was dominant on the boards for the Flames against Saint Louis. He broke a school and pool record with his NCAA Zone Championship qualifying tally of 336.90 to win the one-meter event. The senior went on to sweep the day's diving events with a first-place 318.90 on the three-meter board.         

                       

Female Diver of the Week

 

Sarah Economides

UIC

Sr., Downers Grove, Ill.

Economides finished 1.5 points of first on the three-meter board with a second-place score of 272.93 against Saint Louis. She also led the Flames with a runner-up tally in the one-meter competition, posting a 261.15. 

 

Other Men's Top Performer for the Week

 

Dan Hare

UIC

Jr., Lockport, Ill..

Hare was part of two victorious relays and posted a second-place in the 200 IM with a season-best of 1:57.07 in UIC's win over Saint Louis. The versatile third-year standout swam the second leg of UIC's winning 400 medley relay before leading off the Flames' victorious 400 freestyle relay with a split of :47.04.

 

Other Women's Top Performers for the Week

 

Natasha Bray

Youngstown State

So., York, Pa.

Bray was YSU's top scorer at the Radford Thanksgiving Invitational as the Penguins finished third and 145 points better than last season. She finished second in the 1,650 free, fifth in the 400 IM, sixth in the 500 free, eighth in the 200 back and 12th in the 200 breast at the three-day meet. She recorded personal-best times in all six events. Bray now ranks third all-time for YSU in the 400 IM, fourth in the 1,650 free, fifth in the 500 free, seventh in the 200 breast and seventh in the 200 back.

 

Emily Duesler

UW-Milwaukee

So., Pewaukee, Wis.

Duesler continued her solid season, taking first on the one-meter board with 259.80 points, winning by nearly five points at the Doug Coers Invitational. She also took third on the three-meter with 247.10 points.

 

Kelly Hyatt

UIC

Sr., Shakopee, Minn.

Hyatt was sharp against Saint Louis on Saturday. The sprint specialist won the 50 free in :24.55 and led off UIC's winning 400 free relay with a season-best 100 free split of :53.50.
