USA Volleyball Presents Butler's Sharon Clark With The Rebecca Howard Star Award

Indianapolis, Ind. - Butler volleyball head coach Sharon Clark was recently recognized as a recipient of the Rebecca Howard Star Award from the USVBA Diversity Commission at USA Volleyball.

The Rebecca Howard Star Award is named after former USAV chief executive officer Rebecca "Becky" Howard and is given by the Diversity Commission to identify and recognize groups and individuals who demonstrate a successful commitment to diversity in volleyball.

"We applaud USA Volleyball for recognizing Sharon," Butler Athletic Director Barry Collier said. "Her commitment to diversity in volleyball supports Butler University's strategic plan and brings great value to all."

In addition to her work on the college sidelines, Clark is involved with several committees and numerous NCAA educational programs. She serves as the Horizon League representative for the AVCA Head Coaches Committee, is a co-chair of the AVCA Minority Coaches Clinic and serves on the Butler University Human Resources and Organizational Development committee.

She also sits on several national advisory boards and works as a Cadre with the USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP), where she helps new coaches to become more educated and acclimated in the coaching field.

Just last year, Clark was a recipient of the Sam Lacy Pioneer Award, presented by the sports task force of the National Association of Black Journalists, for her success and leadership as an NCAA head coach and member of the AVCA.

In her eighth season as head coach of the Bulldogs, Clark earned both her 200th career victory and her 100th Butler win last season.
