University of Wisconsin-Green Bay setter Betty Slinger was selected as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for Sept. 25 through Oct. 2, the Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) announced Tuesday.

The 5-9 setter from Faribault, Minn., led the Phoenix to a pair of Horizon League victories this past weekend. Slinger notched nine kills on an .800 hitting clip plus a match-high 15 digs and 47 assists as she guided a Phoenix offense that pounded out a school-record 63 kills in three games against Butler on Friday, Sept. 30. On Saturday, Slinger dished out a career-high 73 assists in a five-game defeat of Wright State. She also added 10 digs, seven kills, two service aces and four blocks assists. The two wins evened the Phoenix record in Horizon League play at 2-2 and improved the season win total to nine.

For the week, Slinger averaged 15.0 assists, 3.12 digs and 2.0 kills on a .393 hitting percentage. She also earned Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week honors.

On the season, Slinger is ranked second in the Horizon League with a 12.05 assists per game average. She is also averaging 1.45 kills, 2.40 digs and 0.38 blocks per contest. She is one of only two players in the Horizon League to record a triple-double this season, notching two in non-League play. Slinger's first triple-double came on Sept. 2 as she tallied 10 kills, 11 digs and 52 assists in a five-game loss at Northern Illinois, while the second occurred on Sept. 17 as Slinger tallied 10 kills, 14 digs and 50 assists in a 3-2 win over Central Michigan at the UW-Green Bay Amerihost Inn Classic.
