Milwaukee, Wis. - Senior Katie Campion of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team has been named to the Soccer Buzz National Elite Team of the Week for Sept. 26, the internet magazine announced today.

Campion, who was named the Horizon League Player of the Week Monday, is the second Panther to garner the honor since the magazine began selecting a national team of the week in 2001. Sophomore Ginny Graczyk also earned the honor as a freshman Sept. 30, 2003.

Milwaukee opened its league slate Friday at UW-Green Bay with a 2-1 win.Campion scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 82nd minute putting UWM ahead 2-0. On Sunday, the Schaumburg, Ill., native scored the golden goal just 77 seconds into overtime in the Panthers' 1-0 overtime victory over Illinois State. She became the first player to score a game-winning goal in back-to-back matches for Milwaukee since 2001.

Campion now has three career goals at UWM, all coming as game-winners.

The Panthers return to action this weekend with a pair of league matches. On Friday (Sept. 30), UWM hosts Cleveland State at Engelmann Field, before heading to Indianapolis for a Sunday match with Butler. Game times are slated for 4 p.m. Friday and noon Sunday.
