INDIANAPOLIS -- Senior Sarah Moore (volleyball) and sophomore Robby Leibold (swimming) of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee have been named the Horizon League Scholar-Athletes of the Week, League commissioner Jonathan B. LeCrone announced Tuesday (Nov. 21).

Moore was the Most Valuable Player of the Horizon League Volleyball Championship, leading the Panthers to the title and an automatic entry into the NCAA Championship which begins next week. She posted a .375 hitting percentage with 35 kills in three matches, including 17 in 28 attempts during a four-game triumph over the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in the semifinals. The All-Horizon League selection currently stands second in the League with a .333 percentage for the season.

In the classroom, Moore boasts a 3.758 grade-point average as an actuarial science major. A consistent member of the Dean's List, she earned Academic All-League honors and a spot on the League's Academic Honor Roll in 2005. She also serves as president of UWM's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Leibold won the 1,650-yard freestyle at the Doug Coers Invitational last Saturday (Nov. 18). He also took second in the 400-yard individual medley and third in the 500-yard freestyle at the event, helping the Panthers to a second-place showing.

In the classroom, Leibold owns a 3.828 grade-point average He has earned Dean's List recognition in each semester he has attended the university. Last year, he finished third in both the 500 and 1,000 freestyle, and fourth in the 1650 at the Horizon League Championships.

The Horizon League instituted the Scholar-Athlete of the Week awards for this academic year as a way to recognize outstanding academic and athletic achievement by its student-athletes. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better (on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution and passed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours, and perform well during the week's competition. Winners are selected by a group of League faculty athletic representatives, from nominations provided by sports information directors.
