Cleveland, Ohio - Cleveland State junior golfer Jake Scott has qualified for the 2007 United States Amateur Championship to be contested from August 20-26 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Scott, a Strongsville native, finished the single-day 36-hole sectional qualifying event at even-par 143 to earn the fourth and final spot available. He fired a three-over-par 74 at Kirtland Country Club in the morning before rebounding in the afternoon with a three-under-par 69 at Manakiki Golf Course.

It will be a busy August for Scott as he is slated to defend his Cleveland Amateur Title at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course from Aug. 10-12.

Last season, Scott helped lead the Vikings to a third place showing at the Horizon League Championships with a runner-up finish in the individual race.
