Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week

Jackie Rosen
UW-Green Bay, Senior, OH, West Allis, Wis.

Rosen was named MVP of the Amerihost Inn Classic, leading the Phoenix to a tournament title and a 3-0 start at home. She averaged 4.0 kills, 3.0 digs and 0.93 blocks per game on the weekend. Rosen leads all Horizon League hitters with 4.55 kills per game.

Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week

Jenni Ramminger
Cleveland State, Freshman, MH, Cincinnati, Ohio
Ramminger averaged 2.10 blocks per game in three matches for the Vikings over the weekend. She tallied a career-high 10 blocks against San Diego State on Saturday, Sept. 16. Ramminger recorded seven blocks and two service aces in a win over Binghamton.

Carl Leslie
Youngstown State, OH, Jr., Grafton, Ohio
Leslie led the Penguins to a 3-1 record last week at the Westgate Rocket Classic, averaging 3.53 kills and 3.47 digs per game. Leslie recorded double-doubles in three of the Penguins' four matches, including a 19 kill, 15 dig performance against Fairleigh Dickinson.



Jenny Schultz
Wright State, OH, Jr., Mora, Minn
Schultz earned All-Tournament team honors at the Best Western/Sycamore Inn Classic over the weekend. She recorded a career-high 23 kills against host Miami and turned in a 14 kill, five dig performance in a loss to Virginia Tech.



Sarah Moore
UW-Milwaukee, MH, Jr., Lousville, KY.
Moore was named to the All-Tournament team at the State Farm Bear Cat Invitational after posting three strong matches, including a career-best 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage against Jacksonville State. Moore averaged 2.93 kills and 1.36 blocks per game and hit .337.



Susana Henri
Butler, OH, Jr., Vancouver, B.C.
Henri led the Bulldogs to a second-place finish at the Cornell Invitational with an All-Tournament team performance. She posted a career-high 19 kills and 18 digs in a win over Colgate, one of three double-doubles in the Bulldog's five matches this week. Henri averaged 3.70 kills and 3.12 digs per game on the week.



Melissa Craig
Loyola, MB, So., Magnolia, Texas
Craig hammered down 29 kills while hitting at a .300 clip for the Ramblers in three weekend matches. She led the team with 10 kills in Loyola's first win of the season, a 3-0 sweep of Manhattan. Craig led the team with 10 total blocks on the week.



Nickole Kennedy
Cleveland State, Opp., Sr., Sunbury, Ohio
Kennedy earned her third consecutive All-Tournament Team nod by hitting .404 and averaging 4.60 kills and 1.30 blocks per game at the Mutual Medical CSU Invitational. She tallied double-digit kills in all three matches, including a season-high 21 kills against San Diego State.



Katarina Nedeljkovic
UIC, OH, So., Serbia & Montenegro
Nedeljkovic tallied 66 total kills, 30 digs, six blocks and four service aces in three matches for the Flames this week. She topped the 20-kill mark in each match, including a 24 kill-performance in a loss to Rice on Friday, Sept. 16. Nedeljkovic leads the Flames with 215 total kills on the season.

Courtney Ashley
Loyola, L/OH, Jr., Naperville, Ill.
Courtney Ashley posted 31 digs in Loyola's three matches this weekend after an injury to a teammate temporarily reassigned Ashley to the libero position. She recorded a season-best 19 digs against Columbia and 15 digs in the Rambler win over Manhattan. Ashley also earned All-Tournament Team honors.



Megan Knightly
Butler, L, Sr., Chicago, Ill.
Knightly pushed her double-digit dig streak to 40 matches with solid performances against Colgate (27 digs ) and LaSalle (24 digs) this weekend, before ending the steak with seven digs in a loss to Cornell. On the season, Knightly leads the Horizon League with 5.03 digs per game.



Becky Peters
UW-Milwaukee, L, Fr., Germantown, Wis.
Peters averaged 6.50 digs per game on the week, including a school record 41 digs against George Washington, The 41 digs easily surpassed the previous record of 31 at UW-Milwaukee and were also more than any other Horizon League player in more than 16 years. She also recorded 26 digs in a loss to Cincinnati and 24 against Jacksonville State.



Abby Bergsma
UW-Green Bay, MB, Fr., Appleton, Wis.
Bergsma averaged 1.21 blocks per game on the weekend, helping the Phoenix to the Amerihost Inn Classic title. She tied a school record with 10 blocks in the championship match against Western Illinois, including five in the decisive fourth game. Bergsma leads all Horizon League freshman with 1.00 blocks per game.



Taylor Gerlach
Wright State, L, Jr., Wheaton, Ill.
Gerlach earned All-Tournament team honors at the Miami Best Western/Sycamore Inn Classic by averaging 5.33 digs per game. She posted career-high 30 digs in a win over Northern Colorado.



Amanda Cindric
Youngstown State, DS/L, Jr., Pittsburgh, Pa.
Cindric helped YSU to a second-place finish at the Clarion Hotel Westgate Rocket Classic by collecting 65 total digs, an average of 4.33 per game. For the season Cindric is averaging 4.76 digs per game.

Ettenhofer, Pasquinelli earn All-Tournament honors; Barbosa makes her mark
Two Penguins were named to the All-Tournament team at the Clarion Hotel Westgate Rocket Classic this past weekend. Abby Ettenhofer averaged 3.00 kpg while hitting .330 and Angie Pasquinelli averaged 9.93 apg and 2.13 dpg to earn the honors. Freshman Ebony Barbosa also made a mark at the Rocket Classic. She tallied a career-high in kills in back-to-back matches, first with 11 against Chicago State, then with 13 versus St. Francis. She blasted a total 43 kills on the weekend, while collecting only 23 in seven previous matches.

Bench players step-up for Panthers; Team begins season with Chicago road trip
Early-season injuries and a busy non-conference schedule have created plenty of opportunities for UWM players to contribute off the bench. Nicole Vilter tallied a career-best 10 kills of the bench in the win over George Washington and Monica Ferguson stepped up to recorded a career-best 11 kills as well as seven digs and three blocks against Cincinnati. The Panthers head into the League schedule with a road trip to Chicago to face Loyola and UIC. The Panthers have won 17 straight matches over the Flames, a streak that dates back to 1996, and have won seven of their last nine against the Ramblers.

Henri, Washington earn All-Tournament honors at Cornell Invitational
Senior Candice Washington and junior Susan Henri were named to the All-Tournament team at the Cornell Invitational. Washington recoded a match-high six blocks in a win over Colgate while Henri 3.70 kills and 3.12 digs per game on the week. The Bulldogs will host one final non-conference match before opening the League schedule next weekend. Butler hosts cross-town rival IUPUI on Tuesday at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Clark becomes all-time digs leader, Vikings host "block party"
CSU senior Emily Clark became the school's all-time digs leader on Saturday, Sept. 16 against Niagara. The Bolivar, Ohio native has 1,147 digs heading into play this week. The Vikings were dominant at the net this weekend, outblocking their opponents by a 40.5 to 13.0 margin. Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week Jenni Ramminger led the way with 21 stuffs, whiel Danielle Siefker added 14 and Nickole Kennedy chipped in with 13.

Flames stick close to home in season's early-goings
The Flames have played eight of their first 12 matches in the Windy CIty and will play four of the next five matches there as well. UIC will host both Wisconsin schools and Loyola at the Flames Athletic Center in the upcoming weeks and will travel across town to battle Chicago State on Oct. 4.

Phoenix Claim Tournament Crown, Improve to 7-5 on the season
Host UW-Green Bay won the tournament title at the Amerihost Inn Classic this past weekend. The Phoenix defeated North Dakota State, Central Michigan and Western Illinois to earn the crown. Up next for the Phoenix is a roadtrip to Chicago, where they will face Loyola on 9/23 and UIC on 9/24.

Loyola earns first win of the season
The Rambler earned their first win of the season on Friday, Sept. 16, with a win over Manhattan at the Loyola Invitational. Loyola had started the season 0-7 before sweeping the Jaspers 3-0. Loyola begings League play on Friday as they host UW-Green Bay.

Raiders finally coming home
Wright State will play its first home match of the season on Friday, Sept. 23 when the Raiders play host to Youngstown State to begin the conference portion of the schedule. The team has spent the first 10 matches of the season on at road and at various tournaments.
