Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week

Maura McCarthy
UIC, OH, Jr., Orland Park, Ill.
McCarthy paced the Flames with 26 kills, 12 digs, five blocks and three service aces over the weekend. She recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs in the Flames first win over UW-Milwaukee since 1996, and added 10 kills on .429 hitting in a three-game sweep of UW-Green Bay. For the season, McCarthy is averaging 3.53 kpg and 2.13 dpg.


Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week

Megan Knightly
Butler, L, Sr., Chicago, Ill.
Knightly posted a career-high 41 digs in the team's five-game win over Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon, the second-highest total in the 31-year history of Butler volleyball. She recorded 23 digs against Cleveland State, and 16 in a three-game loss to IUPUI earlier in the week. Knightly averaged 6.15 digs per game on the week and moved into fourth place in Butler history in career digs with 1,480.

Cari Leslie
Youngstown State, OH, Jr., Grafton, Ohio
Leslie led YSU with 3.00 kills and 3.66 digs per game last week. She recorded her ninth and tenth double-doubles of the season with 11 kills and 16 digs against Wright State and 16 kills and 18 digs in a five-game loss to Butler.



Lisa Griffith
Wright State, MB, Sr., Muncie, Ind.
Griffith averaged 3.00 kills per game and a .388 hitting percentage in two matches last week. She recorded a .450 attack percentage and seven blocks in a loss to Cleveland State and hammered down eight blocks in a win over Youngstown State. For the season, Griffith is averaging 2.02 kpg and 1.15 bpg.



Dana Daprile
Butler, S, Fr., Bargersville, Ind.
Daprile narrowly missed two triple-doubles in the first weekend of Horizon League action. She recorded eight kills, 16 digs and 38 assists in a 3-2 win over Cleveland State and a career-high 10 kills, eight digs and a personal-best 50 assists on .500 hitting in a win over Youngstown State. Daprile is averaging 8.17 assists, 1.11 kills and 1.85 digs per game in her freshman season.



Keily Zins
Loyola, OH, So., Barrington, Ill.
Zins pounded out 28 total kills and posted 18 digs in three-game sweeps of UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee to open League play. She recorded a double-double against the Panthers, with 13 kills and 10 digs. For the seaon, Zins is second on the squad with 118 kills (2.74 kpg).



Jenni Ramminger
Cleveland State, MH, Fr., Cincinnati, Ohio
Ramminger had a break-out weekend offensively, hitting .474 in CSU's two matches. She tallied a career-high 11 kills in a loss to Butler and matched her career-best with 10 blocks to earn her first double-double of the season. She tallied 11 kills and four blocks in a win over Wright State on Saturday.



Jackie Rosen
UW-Green Bay, OH, Sr., West Allis, Wis.
Rosen averaged 3.83 kills and 2.50 digs per game in two matches this weekend. She recorded a team-high 11 kills in a three-game loss to Loyola on Friday and 12 kills in a three-game loss to UIC on Saturday. For the season, Rosen is averaging 4.46 kills per game.

Katie Shea
Youngstown State, MH, Sr., East Aurora, NY
Shea averaged 1.33 blocks per game last weekend. She tallied one block solo and six block assists in matches against Wright State and Butler. On the season, Shea leads the Penguins with 51 total blocks for an average of 1.02 blocks per game.



Taylor Gerlach
Wright State, Libero, Jr., Wheaton, Ill.
Gerlach recorded match-highs in digs against Cleveland State and Youngstown State this weekend. She tallied 29 digs in Raider win over Youngstown State and 25 in a loss to the Vikings. She also added two assists against Cleveland State. For the season, Gerlach is averaging 4.58 digs per game and 0.27 assists.



Emily Clark
Cleveland State, OH, Sr., Bolivar, Ohio
Clark opened the weekend with a match-high 34 digs against Butler, just three shy of the school record. She tallied 18 digs and a pair of aces. in a win over Youngstown State. For the season, Clark is averaging 3.85 digs per game.



Sarah Rauen
UW-Green Bay, Libero, Jr., Stacy, Minn.
Rauen led the Phoenix with an average of 3.00 digs per game over the weekend, including a match-high 13 digs in a three-game loss to Loyola. She also fired a team-best three service aces on the two-match road trip. Rauen leads the Phoenix with 4.22 digs per game on the season.



Liz Hrebic
UIC, Libero, So., Chicago, Ill.
Hrebic helped UIC to a perfect 2-0 start in League play with 29 total digs from the libero position. She tabbed a team-high 15 in a four-game win over UW-Milwaukke and 14 digs in a sweep of UW-Green Bay. For the season, Hrebic leads the Flames with 167 digs (3.09 per game).

Vikings continue out-hitting opponents; Ramminger's emergence creates triple-threat on defense. Cleveland State is out-hitting its opponents by a 50-point margin this season, .233 to .183. The VIkings have been out-hit only three times this season and have turned in five performances of .300+ hitting, including a season-high .405 percentage against Rider. Freshman Jenni Ramminger's emergence on the defensive front has created a triple-threat for the Vikings, who now boast three players averaging more than a block per game. Ramminger is averaging 1.06 bpg, while seniors Danielle Siefker and Nickole Kennedy are averaging 1.21 and 1.12 blocks per game respectively.

Pasquinelli continues climbing school all-time assists chart; Cindric continues defensive dominance.
Senior setter Angie Pasquinelli continued her climb up the all-time assists chart by posting a total of 92 assists in two matches over the weekend. She recorded 42 assists in a four-game loss to Wright State and added 49 assists, seven kills and 21 digs in a five-game loss to Butler. Pasquinelli currently sits in third place on YSU's all-time assists list with 3,372. She needs 353 more to move into second place. Junior Amanda Cindric continues her defensive dominance from the libero position, posting a total of 36 digs on the weekend. Her 4.62 digs per game average currently ranks as the second-highest single season digs average in school history.

Flames earn first sweep of the season; start League schedule at 2-0.
UIC earned its first sweep since a 3-0 blanking of Delaware State on Sept. 3, 2004. The Flames defeated UW-Green Bay 3-0 on Saturday. The Flames also earned their first win over League foe UW-Milwaukee since 1996 with a 3-1 defeat of the Panthers on Friday night to open the League portion of the schedule. Three Flames currently rank in the top 10 in the Horizon League in kills. Katarina Nedeljkovic leads all players with 4.53 kills per game, while Maura McCarthy comes in fifth at 3.53 and Ambria Springer is seventh with 3.36.  The Flames will battle Valparaiso on Tuesday night before returning to League play to face crosstown rival Loyola. UIC defeated the Ramblers earlier this season at the Chicagoland Classic.

Bulldogs continue League dominance at Hinkle Fieldhouse; Hendrix breaks out with career-high performance.
With wins at home over Youngstown State and Cleveland State, Butler continued its League dominance at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Last season, the Bulldogs went a perfect 7-0 at home against League opponents. Junior Krystal Hendrix tallied a career-high 22 digs against Cleveland State and narrowly missed a triple-double against Youngstown State on Saturday with nine kills, nine digs and a season-high 10 blocks.

Loyola earns rare sweep of Panthers; prepares to host Notre Dame in non-League play.
Loyola earned a rare sweep Saturday as it defeated UW-Milwaukee 3-0 for the first time since 1997. The two teams have combined for the last seven conference titles, making for exciting, competitive matches. Milwaukee has earned only one sweep of the Ramblers since 1997, a three-game win in the 2001 Horizon League Tournament championship match. Up next for the Ramblers is a Tuesday night match against No. 11 Notre Dame, the alma mater of Rambler head coach Marcie Bomhack. The last time Loyola welcomed a nationally-ranked opponent to Alumni Gym was last season, when teh Ramblers knocked off No. 9 Illinois in five games.

Raiders earn fifth victory, eclipse 2004 win total
Wright State opened both the League and home portion of its schedule on Friday with a 3-1 defeat of Youngstown State. With the win, the Raiders earned the fifth victory of the season, eclipsing last season's win total of four. Alisha Kimbro recorded a double-double on Friday with 11 kills and 11 digs on .346 hitting, then narrowly missed a triple-double on Friday with 11 kills, 11 digs and nine blocks. No Raider has recorded a triple-double this season. Up next for the Raiders is a road trip to Wisconsin to face UW-Milwaukee and UW-Green Bay.

Panthers look for another succesful October, first league win
After starting the League portion of the schedule with two losses at UIC and Loyola, UWM looks to snap a three-game losing streak, only the third of its kind in the last eight seasons. The two League setbacks were the first back-to-back losses against Horizon League opponents since 1996. UWM looks to turn it around as the Panthers host Wright State on Sept. 30 and Butler on Oct. 1. The Panthers are 67-6 over the past eight seasons in the month of October, including a 10-1 record last season.

Phoenix stumble in early portion of League schedule, begin four-match home stand.
UW-Green Bay began the League portion of the schedule on the road with losses at UIC and Loyola. The Phoenix look to turn it around this weekend as they begin a four match homestand next weekend as they host Butler on Friday, Sept. 30, and Wright State on Oct. 1. UW-Green Bay is undefeated at home this seaon, claiming the Amerihost Inn Classic title at the Phoenix Sports Center.
