Women's Leadership Symposium - May 14-15

The Women's Leadership Symposium in Intercollegiate Athletics was held May 14-15 at the Wyndham Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio. Attended by 160 students and professionals, the event was themed "No Limits" and featured Athletic Directors, Senior Woman Administrators, Conference Commissioners, Conference Office Staff and NCAA Senior Staff.

Many different leadership topics were covered at the event including:
-crisis management
-work/life balance
-communications
-personal assessment
-networking
-strategic bounce backs

"The success of the Women's Leadership Symposium was a result of a combined effort of women representing the three title sponsors," said co-chair Alfreeda Goff. "It was extremely inspiring for the attendees due to the caliber of the presenters and programming."

Claire Van Ummersen of the American Council of Education was presented an appreciation award for her personal and professional commitment to the WLS.

The Horizon League, Big Ten Conference and Mid-American Conference were the title sponsors, while Nelligan Sports Marketing, Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Ohio News Network and Price, Inc. also sponsored part of the symposium.

The Women's Leadership Symposium began in 2001 as a bi-annual event to provide professional development education and programming to women in the Midwest.
