Top Performances from the Quarterfinals

Mary Dale, Loyola
Senior * Midfielder * Freeport, Ill.
Dale tallied her sixth and seventh goals of 2006 in the Ramblers' 3-0 victory over Youngstown State. The senior took an Alexia Murray feed in the 68th minute and blasted a 12-yard shot into the back of the net. She then provided the final insurance marker with an unassisted goal in the 80th minute.

Erin Kreuser, UW-Milwaukee
Freshman * Forward * West Allis, Wis.
Kreuser scored a pair of goals, including the game winner, in UWM's 4-1 victory over Cleveland State on Saturday. In the 60th minute, she capitalized on a rebound after Sarah Teegarden's header was blocked. Kreuser then finished the Panthers' scoring at 86:42 with a shot from 12 yards out off a feed from Amanda Winn.

Nicole Gipson, Detroit
Sophomore * Midfielder * Sterling Heights, Mich.
Gipson had the only goal in UDM's 1-0 victory over UW-Green Bay on Saturday evening. Jaclyn Thomas started the play with a throw-in that Mary Parker flicked on to Gipson, who deposited the ball into the back of the net for the game-winner. It was Gipson's first goal of the season.

Angie Muir, Butler
Sophomore * Forward * Carmel, Ind.
Muir assisted both Butler goals as the Bulldogs advanced past Wright State in penalty kicks on Saturday. She set up Jenny Southard just 1:38 into the game, then came back to get the helper on Carrie Twyman's equalizer in the 59th minute.

Amanda Winn, UW-Milwaukee
Junior * Midfielder * Wauwatosa, Wis.
Winn assisted on two of the Panthers' goals in Saturday's match, setting up Taylor Powell for the team's third strike then notching the helper on Kreuser's goal that rounded out the scoring.

Kirby Zwickel, Butler
Junior * Goalkeeper * Indianapolis, Ind.
Zwickel turned away nine shots in the Bulldogs' shootout versus Wright State. She made four saves in each half and came up with a big save in the second overtime session. For the game, BU was out-shot 31-6.

Horizon League Semifinal Match-Ups

No. 6 Butler (5-10-3, 2-4-1 HL) vs. No. 2 Loyola (12-6-3; 5-1-1 HL)
Previous meeting: LU 2, BU 2 (2OT) at Butler on Sept. 29
Loyola dug itself out of an early two-goal hole but, despite five shots in 30 minutes of overtime, had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Butler on Sept. 29 at Varsity Field in Indianapolis, Ind. Butler's Jenny Southard's ball played in Angie Muir all alone behind the defense and she made no mistake with a chip from 15 yards to stake the hosts to a 1-0 lead after just eight minutes. The Bulldogs doubled their lead 20 minutes later, as Carrie Twyman converted a Muir cross to make it 2-0. Facing a two-goal deficit, Loyola dug in and pulled one back just minutes later. Jackie Vera and Mary Dale set up Amy Lomas who found the back of the net from close range in the 33rd minute to cut the deficit in half and the Ramblers would find the equalizer just before the break as freshman Casey Berrier got her head on a 44th-minute corner kick from Lindsay Faron for her first collegiate goal.

No. 4 Detroit (9-10-0, 4-3-0 HL) at No. 1 UW-Milwaukee (16-2-1; 7-0-0 HL)
Previous meeting: UWM 1, UDM 0 at UW-Milwaukee on Oct. 20
Sophomore Sarah Teegarden scored the game-winning goal for the second-straight game and sophomore Erin Kane tied a League record with her 24th career shutout as host UW-Milwaukee defeated Detroit, 1-0, on Oct. 20 at Engelmann Field. Teegarden scored the game's lone goal in the 75th minute off a corner kick from sophomore Beth Steuer. Steuer sent a line drive corner at the far post and Teegarden was there to head it past Detroit keeper Katie Fortenberry for the score.
