News From Around the League

UW-Milwaukee (21-5, 13-1 HL)

UWM has now won 12-straight matches. The Division I school record is 14, set in 1997 and matched in 2000.

UWM has won 20 or more matches in nine of the last 10 seasons. Over that time span, the Panthers have averaged more than 22 wins per season and have won 25 matches three times.

Milwaukee has also won 25 of its last 26 regular-season League matches and 31 of its last 35 League road matches.

UIC (15-16, 8-6 HL)

The Flames concluded regular-season action on Thursday against Loyola. UIC earned a No. 2 seed heading into the 2006 Horizon League Tournament and are set to face off against No. 7 Butler on Friday, Nov. 17 in Dayton, Ohio.

Following regular-season play in League matches, senior Ambria Springer leads the Flames, averaging 4.15 kills per game, a .291 attack percentage and 1.22 blocks per game. Senior Katie Kozak has totaled a team-high 671 assists and notched 12 service aces. Senior Julie Popp owns a team-high 196 digs.

Cleveland State (18-8, 8-6 HL)

Cleveland State heads to the Horizon League Championship as the No. 3 seed. The Vikings will face Loyola in the quarterfinals in a rematch of the 2004 title contest. CSU is 0-3 all-time against the Ramblers in League Championships.

CSU recorded its 15th sweep of the season on Friday against Youngstown State. The Vikings also improved to 10-2 on Fridays this year with the win over the Penguins.

CSU's eight Horizon League victories are the second-most in school-history, trailing only last year's senior laden squad that went 11-3 in the League. By finishing in second place, the Vikings also matched the 2005 team's record for best League finish ever.

UW-Green Bay (14-14, 8-6 HL)

UW-Green Bay's second-place League finish is its best ever in school history. It tops the third-place finish by the 2003 squad which went on to win the Horizon League Championship and make its first NCAA tournament appearance.

The Phoenix finished 8-6 in Horizon League play. It marked just the second time in the program's history that UW-Green Bay finished with a League record over .500. The 2003 team finished 10-4 in League play.

UW-Green Bay wrapped up the Horizon League season on a four-match winning streak. It is the second-longest consecutive League win streak in school history, trailing only a span of six straight wins by the 2003 squad.

The Phoenix will be the No. 4 seed for the Horizon League tournament and will face host and fifth-seeded Wright State in the quarterfinal round Friday.

Wright State (14-16, 8-6 HL)

Jenny Schultz stretched her double-double streak to nine and now has 19 overall on the season as she picked up two more last week.  Schultz had 12 kills and 19 digs against UW-Green Bay and 10 kills with 14 digs versus UW-Milwaukee.

For the first time since 1998, Wright State will host the Horizon League Tournament this weekend at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium. The Raiders hope to repeat last year's success as WSU advanced to the championship match.

Loyola (14-15, 7-7 HL)

Senior libero Ann Deelo enters Horizon League Championship play just four digs shy of Megan Knightly's (Butler 2002-05) Horizon League career digs record. After digging 12 balls on Thursday against UIC, Deelo is sitting on 1,733 career digs and already holds the top three spots on Loyola's single-season list in addition to being the school's career leader.

Butler (8-21, 3-11 HL)

Junior Michelle DeGeeter notched her eighth double-double of the year against UW-Green Bay on Saturday, totaling 14 kills and 16 digs.

Senior Krystal Hendrix touts 411 career block assists and stands just two block assists away from reaching Amy Pickett's Butler career record of 413.

The Bulldogs out-blocked both UW-Milwaukee and the Phoenix over the weekend and have out-blocked their foes in 22 of 29 matches this season.

Sophomore libero Nina Inic's 40 digs against UW-Green Bay on Saturday was a career-high and is the third highest total in school history. She has done well against the Phoenix this season, as her previous career-mark of 35 was set in Green Bay on Oct. 13, and tied for the sixth-highest total in Butler history.

Sophomore Dana Daprile finished one kill short of netting her second triple-double of the season against UW-Green Bay, finishing with nine kills, 44 assists and 11 digs.

Youngstown State (10-21, 1-13 HL)

With 352 kills this season, Ruth Boscaljon needs just nine more to set the YSU freshman kills record. Boscaljon's total of 127 blocks ranks eighth on the YSU single-season list. Sophomore Karla Everhart became the sixth player in school history to record at least 1,000 assists in a single season with 1,088, putting her seventh on the YSU single-season list. Senior Amanda Cindric moved into ninth on the YSU all-time digs list with 1,163 in her career.
