Paul Newman, Wright State University's Sr. Associate Athletics Director, has received the "Distinguished Alumnus" award from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  The honor, which recognized Newman's work in volunteerism and public service, was presented by Edinboro President Frank Pogue.

 

Involved in numerous community activities, the 1964 Edinboro graduate has served as president of the Fairborn Chamber of Commerce and the Fairborn Rotary Club.  He has also been a board member for United Cerebral Palsy of Dayton and the Miami Military Affairs Association.  In May of 2001, he was awarded the Fairborn Chamber of Commerce's highest honor--the Award for Civil Excellence.

 

Newman received the President's Award for Excellence in Service from Wright State University in 2003 in recognition of his community involvement.

 

He is entering his 21st year as a Wright State athletics administrator after working in various capacities at Edinboro University for 18 years.

 

The WSU athletic administrator is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America and the Edinboro University Athletics Halls of Fame.
