INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State University junior Josh Page (baseball) and Loyola University Chicago junior Kat Krause (softball) have been named the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athletes of the Week, League commissioner Jonathan B. LeCrone announced Tuesday (April 3).

Page compiled a .381 batting average (eight-for-21) last week, recording his first career four-hit game against the University of Illinois at Chicago on Saturday (March 31). He also had two hits in Friday's (March 30) series opener against the Flames, and has lifted his batting average to .338.

In the classroom, Page owns a 3.89 grade-point average as a middle childhood education major, posting a perfect 4.00 semester GPA three times. He is a two-time Academic All-League selection, and has appeared on the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll in each of the last five semesters. Page garnered Second-Team Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) last spring.

Krause hit .471 (eight-for-17) with four doubles, two home runs and seven RBI in four games last week, pacing the Ramblers to a 3-1 record. She belted a two-run homer at the University of Wisconsin on Tuesday (March 27) and added a two-run shot against the University of Detroit Mercy on Sunday (April 1), extending her hitting streak to six games and helping Loyola to its best start in League play since 2002.

In the classroom, Krause boasts a 3.74 grade-point average as a psychology/sociology major. She earned Academic All-League honors after hitting a school-record 11 home runs last spring, and is a three-time member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll. This is the second weekly academic honor this spring for Krause, who also received the award on March 20.

The Horizon League instituted the Scholar-Athlete of the Week awards for this academic year as a way to recognize outstanding academic and athletic achievement by its student-athletes. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better (on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution and passed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours, and perform well during the week's competition. Winners are selected by a group of League faculty athletic representatives, from nominations provided by sports information directors.
