Kim Demmings All-Region Nominee for All-America Team

Wright State senior guard Kim Demmings is one of 52 All-Region nominees for the Coaches' All-America Team, it was announced Wednesday by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

The 2015-16 Horizon League Player of the Year, Demmings (Richmond, IN/Richmond) led the league in scoring at 20.0 points per game and was fourth in threes made per game at 2.4, 10th in steals per game at 1.5 and 15th in rebounds per game at 6.0.  She scored in double figures in 31 of 35 games this season, with her 35 at UIC on February 6 ranking as the top scoring performance in the league for the season.  Demmings tallied 20 or more points 19 times and 30 or more on four occasions.

The Horizon League Player of the Week on November 22, November 29 and January 18, Demmings was chosen as a Third Team High-Major All-American by College Sports Madness earlier this month after being selected as their High-Major Player of the Week on November 22 and February 8.  She was also named to the league's All-Tournament Team after scoring 70 points in three games and also recording 22 rebounds and 11 assists.

Named to Naismith Watch List earlier this season, Demmings is the all-time scorer in Horizon League women's basketball and WSU history (men's or women's) with 2677 points.  Those 2677 points are second among active Division I players, only trailing Big Ten Player of the Year Rachel Banham of Minnesota, and are good for 33rd on the all-time Division I list.   She has reached double figures in scoring 121 times during her career, out of a possible 134 games, with 63 of those coming in league play.

Along with the scoring record, Demmings is WSU's all-time leader in field goals made and attempted, three-pointers made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, assists, games played and minutes played.

From the 52 candidates, the selection committee will select the 10-member Coaches' All-America Team.  Demmings is just one of seven nominees that does not play at a BCS school, joining Jonquel Jones (George Washington), Shereesha Richards (Albany), April Robinson (Duquesne), Danaejah Grant (St. John's), Chanise Jenkins (DePaul) and Brittany Crain (UC Riverside).

The WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team will be announced on April during the Final Four in Indianapolis.

Wright State finished the season with a final record of 24-11, winning 20 or more games for the fifth time in six years under head coach Mike Bradbury.  The Raiders competed in the Women's NIT for the second straight year, falling to Michigan in the opening round.
