ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Oakland men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams start the season nationally ranked 37th and 36th, respectively, in CollegeSwimming.com’s top 50. The two-time defending Horizon League Champions also rank eighth among mid-major schools on the women’s side and 15th for the men.

Rankings are compiled from a team's best meet performances over a six-week rolling basis.  Team scores are calculated by taking the average score from a team's top 27 individual swims and top two relays. Mid-Major teams are designated as those not affiliated with a Power 5 football conference or offer fewer than half of the maximum number of athletic scholarships.

Both teams started the season with convincing wins over Green Bay (Oct. 10) while the men’s team also placed second at the Dennis Stark Relays in Notre Dame (Oct. 9), winning three events.

The women’s team will be back in action Friday, October 16 at Bowling Green for the Tom Stubbs Relays and both teams resume their dual meet season October 30 at Wayne State.
