INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- No. 13/11 Green Bay will begin its journey in the NCAA tournament on Sunday as the fifth-seeded Phoenix head to Wichita, Kansas to take on twelfth-seeded Arkansas-Little Rock in their 12th and second-consecutive trip to the NCAA.
Green Bay received an automatic bid into the tournament for winning the 2011 Horizon League championship last Sunday, while UALR also received an in for winning the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
Just like last year, Green Bay (32-1) will see a 5/12 match-up in the first round of the tournament, but this year the Phoenix has the higher seed over the Trojans (23-7).
In 2010, both Green Bay and UALR posted first-round upset wins. Green Bay, as the 12 seed, defeated fifth-seeded Virginia, 69-67 on March 21. The Trojans, who were a No. 11 seed, knocked off sixth-seeded Georgia Tech, 63-53.
Tipoff is scheduled for 5:20pm ET and the winner will face the winner of No. 4 Michigan State and No. 13 UNI in the second round.
On Saturday, Top-seeded Cleveland State will host fifth-seeded Chicago State at 11am ET in the quarterfinal round of the WBI.
The Vikings advanced to the quarterfinals of the WBI after defeating IPFW, 73-62, in the first round on Wednesday.
Wright State, which also received a top seed in the WBI, will host its quarterfinal against Manhattan on Sunday at 2pm ET.
The Raiders knocked off Buffalo (82-79) in the opening round of the tournament.
