INDIANAPOLIS – The Horizon League has announced its men’s basketball All-Academic Team for the 2016-17 season. Brett Prahl of Milwaukee, Northern Kentucky’s Drew McDonald, Sherron Dorsey-Walker of Oakland, Alec Peters of Valparaiso and Matt Donlan of Youngstown State make up the five-man team.

Prahl has emerged as a key piece of the Milwaukee lineup with a breakout junior season. The accounting major has reset his career scoring mark three times this season, including 18 (vs. YSU) on 9-of-10 shooting. Prahl is second in conference with 66.3 field goal percentage overall (71.4 HL-only), and is on pace to break Milwaukee's single-season record.

McDonald is a member of Northern Kentucky’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)  and has volunteers more than 13 hours this year. Recently named to the All-Conference first team, the marketing major is a three-time selection as Horizon League Player of the Week this season.

Dorsey-Walker earns all-league academic honors after being named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 5 team. The integrative studies major is a NABC Good Works nominee and is the team leader in assists and rates among the league’s best in several statistical categories.

Peters is a three-time CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District honoree and was recently named the Horizon League Player of the Year. The standout forward is among the nation’s best in scoring and rebounding to go along with his third Horizon League All-Academic honor as a sports administration major.

Donlan is a 3-point threat for the Penguins, averaging 8.9 points during his senior season. The general studies major from Melbourne sits in the YSU top-10 in 3-pointers made and boasts 14 double-figure scoring games this season.

To be eligible for All-Academic Team consideration, student-athletes must be starter of important reserve for their team, have completed at least 24 semester (or 36 quarter) hours at their institution and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2.
