LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Forty-two Horizon League softball players, representing six different programs, were named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athletes for their performance in the classroom during the 2011-2012 academic year.

The award is given to any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2011-2012 academic year.

Earlier this fall, Loyola, UIC, Valparaiso and Youngstown State were also recognized by the NFCA for having a team GPA greater than 3.00.
