Alec Brown Headed to adidas Nations Basketball Experience

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay senior Alec Brown (Winona, Minn./Winona) will be among the counselors at the 2013 adidas Nations Basketball Experience.

Brown, who enters his senior season with 1,218 career points, told WBAY-TV, “Always great coaches at these places that know what they're talking about. Great to work out, and gives me a different look, and kind of a view into what I can expect at the next level."

Counselors at the 2012 edition of the camp included Cody Zeller, Nate Wolters, Nerlens Noel and former Horizon League Player of the Year Ray McCallum. Sixteen players selected in the 2013 NBA Draft had been a part of the adidas Nations experience. To see a list of the 2012 adidas Nations college counselors, click here.

Phoenix head coach Brian Wardle, told the station “I want him to try to dominate that thing. He's had an unbelievable three-year career already, played against some really good NBA, great players. Go in there with the mentality of 'I am going to try and dominate.’”

Brown will be among 30 collegians participating as counselors at the event, which pits several of the nation's top high school prospects against teams from Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. In addition to his duties as counselor, Brown and the other college players will compete against each other in scrimmages.

Entering his senior season, the 7-foot-1 Brown is the only player in the country that has accumulated more than 1,200 points, 600 rebounds and 200 blocked shots in his career. Green Bay’s all-time leader in blocked shots sits 15th on the program’s scoring chart. As a junior in 2012-13, Brown averaged 15.6 points per game and shot 44.4 percent from long range.

During his time at adidas Nations, Brown will provide on-court coaching and training, as well as off-court instruction on nutrition, leadership, discipline, philanthropy and global interactions.

Prior to his sophomore season, Brown participated in the Amare Stoudemire Skills Academy for the nation’s top high school and college big men.
