GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay men's soccer senior midfielder JC Banks (Milwaukee, Wis.) has been invited to participate in the 2011 Major League Soccer Combine which kicks off Jan. 7. Banks is one of 54 college seniors from 36 Division I schools who have been invited to participate.
Banks is the only player from the Horizon League invited to the combine and the first player to receive the honor under six-year head coach Tom Poitras.
"JC is one of the best players in the country and he will get to compete against the best," said Poitras. "He will represent himself and Phoenix soccer very well. We look forward to seeing where JC begins his pro career."
The annual event will take place Jan. 7-11 at Central Broward Regional Park in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The Combine will separate all players into four teams and feature two games per day on Jan. 8, 10 and 11.
Players invited to the Combine were determined by a panel of Division I college coaches, representing all conferences, who nominated and voted for players in conjunction with MLS coaches.
