MaCOMB, Ill. - A penalty kick in the 70th minute decided a scoreless battle and helped hand Western Illinois University a 2-0 defeat of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team Tuesday afternoon.

Charlie Bales sent the free kick into the back of the net at the 69:26 mark, essentially deciding the outcome in the defensive battle on a windy day at Alumni Field. Read more

Detroit Men's Soccer Battles to 1-1 Tie With IPFW -- Box Score

DETROIT (10/7/2014) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team out-shot IPFW 29-12 in their Tuesday non-conference matchup, but the two teams battled through two overtimes to a 1-1 tie at Titan Field.

It was the third straight game that Detroit (5-4-2) has played in overtime. The Titans were coming off a 2-1 overtime victory at UIC on Saturday. Read more

Crusaders Tally Season High in Goals with Non-League Win at IUPUI  -- Box Score

The Valparaiso men’s soccer team got back to its winning ways in an attacking way as it won at IUPUI Tuesday night, 3-1. The three goals are a season high for the Crusaders.

“It was a very good result tonight, on the road to an in-state rival,” Crusader head coach Mike Avery said. “IUPUI is always a difficult game for us and I thought we handled the match very well. Our possession was sharp, we had long spells of good rhythm in our attack, and minus one hiccup, we defended well and with good shape.” Read more

Vikings Fall To Bowling Green, 1-0, in Overtime -- Box Score 

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Playing at home for just the second time this year, the Cleveland State men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 match in overtime to Bowling Green on Tuesday night at Krenzler Field.

CSU, which was at home for the first time since the season opener on Aug. 29, fell to 4-6 and had its two match win streak snapped. The Falcons improved to 9-2 with the win. Read more

Wisconsin Downs the Phoenix 1-0 in Madison -- Box Score

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Failing to find the back of the net for the second straight game, the Green Bay men’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Wisconsin on Tuesday night in nonconference play at the McClimon Complex in Madison.

The Badgers (2-7-1) scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute when Mark Segbergs dribbled up the field through the Green Bay defense before finding Tom Barlow for the would-be game winner. Read more
