Katie Britton, a sophomore volleyball player at Valparaiso, is the Volleyball correspondent for the HLN Blog.

Currently blogging from the road, it's about ten o'clock Valpo time and we are on our way home from a victory over IUPUI. With another win on our record, a recently satisfied hunger, and my 6'3" frame stretched out across four seats, I'm deeming this a good bus ride home.

I last left you right before we took on the Horizon League's Wisconsin schools at home, and Chicago schools on the road. We were able to emerge from each of these battles victorious, and in doing so laid the foundation for more big wins to come. Beginning with our win over Butler, and continuing on throughout the month, thus far we've been able to firmly secure ourselves a solid winning streak...chalking up a Valpo victory in eight straight matches. We've been working hard to defend our shared #1 spot in the league standings by winning key matches both on the road and at home, and hope to continue this streak during the second round of league play!

Our team has a few VERY important matches coming up, as the scramble for Horizon League tournament seeding boils down. This weekend we head east to take on Cleveland State and Wright State, two extremely worthy opponents that we are excited to face. We then will head south to play Butler once again, but this time on their home turf.

As a side note, I am way stoked on the upcoming arrival of my one of all-time favorite holidays, HALLOWEEN. We have a home game against Oakland on that night of all hallows, so I'm anxious to see what kind of antics our crowd has in store for that match. I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to dress up as this year, which personally is an unsettling thing to admit. Some of my past costumes have included...but were not limited to...Kimberly (the pink, and BEST, Power Ranger), Carrie (from the scary, bloody, 70's flick), a pirate, etc. Who knows what sort of tricky guise I will sport this year, though you can bet your buttons it'll be something rad.

GO CRUSADERS!!!
