INDIANAPOLIS - Butler University senior Boris Gatzky has been named Horizon League Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the period of Oct. 5-11.  Gatzky claims the Bulldogs’ first honor of the season and the first of his career.

The Reutlingen, Germany, native guided Butler on two road victories last week, assisting on both scores in a 2-1 double-overtime triumph against No. 14 Indiana University.  It was Butler’s first win over the Hoosiers since the 1995 season.  In a 2-1 win over Valparaiso University, the senior forward netted the Bulldogs’ first goal and then assisted on the game-winner, all within a three-minute span.

Gatzky ranks second in the Horizon League with 1.10 points per game and sixth in goals and assists per contest with 0.40 and 0.30, respectively.

Gatzky was recently named the Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month, becoming the conference’s first male recipient of the academic year.

The Bulldogs, who improve to 8-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in League play, are currently riding a five-game unbeaten streak.

Butler returns to action on Wednesday when it travels across town to Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff.
