Botha, Scotti Named Swimmers of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State’s Hermanus Botha and Butler’s Lauren Scotti are the Horizon League Men’s and Women’s Swimmer of the Week for Jan. 23-29.

Botha, a senior from Krugersdrop, South Africa., won all three individual events he entered in leading Wright State to a dual-meet victory over Xavier on Saturday. Botha won the 50-freestyle (21.35), the 100-freestyle (46.28) and the 200-freestyle (1:41.32) to close out his Senior Day in fine fashion.

Wright State closes out the regular season on Saturday, February 4, at Cincinnati.

Scotti, a freshman from Naperville, Ill., took home women’s top honors after winning two individual events and being part of a victorious 200-freestyle relay team in Butler’s wins over Valparaiso and Monmouth. Scotti won the 50-freestyle (26.15) and the 100-backstroke (1:02.99) and swam the anchor leg (25.92 split) on the winning 200-freestyle relay team (1:55.65).

Butler returns to the pool Saturday in three-team meet hosted by IUPUI.
