INDIANAPOLIS -- Detroit forward Shareta Brown and Youngstown State forward Brandi Brown have been named the Horizon League women’s basketball co-Players of the Week after leading their teams to two wins last week, while Loyola guard Taylor Johnson has been named the Newcomer of the Week after helping lead Loyola to a win in its home-opener.

UDM’s Brown scored 58 points last week in helping the Titans win their first two games of the season after dropping their season-opener last week at Michigan. Last season’s Co-Newcomer of the Year posted a career-high 34 points in Detroit’s 61-54 win over Eastern Michigan on Sunday. She scored 17 points in each half and finished the game with a career-best 13 field goals made. Earlier in the week, the Titan sophomore scored 24 points, pulled down eight rebounds and handed out five assists in Detroit’s 65-54 win over Canisius.

YSU’s Brown posted a pair of double-doubles last week in helping Youngstown State to its first 3-0 start since the 1999-2000 season. The Preseason First-Team All-League selection had game highs of 24 points and 15 rebounds in YSU’s 60-50 win at Buffalo. The Pomona, Calif., native followed up that performance with 26 points and 19 rebounds in the Penguins’ 75-59 win over Bryant. The senior forward had 20 points and 13 rebounds after halftime of the game against Bryant as YSU outscored Bulldogs 48-32 in the second period. For the week, the two-time All-League selection averaged 25.0 ppg., 17.0 rpg., and played 77 out of a possible 80 minutes.

Johnson was named Newcomer of the Week after scoring 26 points and passing out seven assists in Loyola’s 82-73 win over Southern Illinois as the Ramblers won their season-opener for the sixth consecutive season. The Frankfort, Ill., native also had six rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots in the win and also did not register a turnover in 39 minutes of action. Johnson’s 26 points were the most by a Loyola freshman guard since Maggie McCloskey had 28 for the Ramblers on Dec. 30, 2006.

Top Performers for the Week:
Simone Law, Loyola (So., F) - Law posted 27 points and 14 rebounds as Loyola topped Southern Illinois to win its home-opener.

Adrian Ritchie, Green Bay (Sr., G) - Ritchie recorded her first career double-double in GB’s 75-48 win over Central Michigan on Saturday. She finished the game with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

Rachel Story, UIC(Jr., G) - Story averaged 17.5 ppg., and 6.0 rpg. for the Flames. She’s had at least 17 points in all three UIC games this season. Story’s 18 points against Drake on Sunday was a career-high.

Ashley Green, Milwaukee(So., G/F) - Green had a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds in UWM’s 88-79 win over Western Michigan on Wednesday. It was Green’s second double-double of her career and her first career 20-point game.

Tabitha Gerardot, Valparaiso (Jr., F) - Gerardot led the Crusaders in scoring and rebounds in both games last week. She had 18 points and 12 rebounds in the team’s win over Purdue-Calumet and tallied 16 points and nine rebounds on Saturday at IUPUI.

Imani Gordon, Cleveland State (So., F) - Gordon had her first career double-double (11 points, 18 rebounds) in CSU’s loss at Illinois on Sunday. Her 18 rebounds were a career-high.

Kim Demmings, Wright State(So., G) - Demmings scored 38 points and grabbed 10 rebounds last week for the Raiders. She had 16 points and five rebounds in WSU’s win over IUPUI and 22 points and five rebounds in the Raiders’ win over Buffalo.

Top Newcomers for the Week:
Shar’Rae Davis, Youngstown State(Fr., G) - Davis scored 42 points and had nine rebounds, eight assists and six steals in YSU’s two wins last week. She had a career-high 23 points, including 18 in the second half, in YSU’s win over Bryant on Sunday.

Rosanna Reynolds, Detroit (Fr., G) - Reynolds had a season-high 15 points and seven rebounds in Detroit’s win over Canisius. She also passed out six assists in UDM’s two wins last week.

Tayler Stanton, Wright State (So., F) - Stanton pulled down 15 rebounds last week and also scored 10 points for the Raiders in two wins. She had nine rebounds against IUPUI and had eight points, six rebounds and two steals on Sunday in WSU’s win over Buffalo.
Charae Richardson, Valparaiso (Jr., G) - Richardson posted 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals on Saturday at IUPUI.
