INDIANAPOLIS – Detroit junior Brendan Leonard has been named Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Titan sophomore Olivia Richards has been named Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Week.

Leonard was runner-up at the Detroit Titans Invitational with a career-best two-under 214, just two shots off the lead, as he led the Titans to a win at their home tournament. He tallied a two-under 70 in round one before a 75 in round two, but saved his best for last tying his career-high with a three-under 69 on the final 18 to challenge for the tournament lead. In the 54 holes, he carded 36 pars and 10 birdies. It was his sixth top-20 finish of the year and the third time he has been in the top 10.

Richards held on for her third collegiate win and the Detroit women's golf team dominated the field by 15 strokes in claiming its eighth victory of the season at Bowling Green's Dolores Black Falcon Invitational. Richards was tied for first after the opening 18, but carded an even-par 72 in the second round to win by four shots with a two-round total of 149 (77-72). It was her third career victory and the second of the season as she won the Titan Tri-Match back in March. It was also her sixth top-10 effort on the year.

Both the men’s and women’s Detroit golf teams return to action at next week’s Horizon League Championships held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The championships begin Friday, April 28 and run through Sunday.
