The Butler University men's squad will represent the Horizon League at the 2006 NCAA Cross Country Championships, as announced by the NCAA Men's and Women's Track & Field Committee on November 12.

The entire men's field consists of 31 teams: Alabama, American, Arkansas, Brigham Young, Colorado, Florida State, Georgetown, Iona, Kansas, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Providence, Stanford, Texas, William and Mary and Wisconsin round out the automatic qualifiers, while Arizona, Butler, Cal Poly, Florida, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan State, Portland, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, Virginia, Washington and Washington State earned at-large berths.
The women's field includes Arkansas, Baylor, Boston College, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Georgia, Illinois, Iona, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Princeton, Stanford, Texas Tech, UC Santa Barbara and Wisconsin as automatic qualifiers with Arizona State, Brigham Young, Colorado State, Florida State, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Providence, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Weber State picking up at-large berths.
