Butler seniors earn volleyball player of the week honors

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Butler seniors Jessica Wolfe and Katie Daprileare the Horizon League Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for Nov. 8-13.

Wolfe, an outside hitter from Plainfield, Ind., picks up her third season accolade after recording 33 kills (4.71 kills per set), helping the Bulldogs go 2-0 last week.  She had 12 kills in a sweep of Youngstown State on Friday and added 21 kills and 20 digs in a 3-1 victory over Wright State on Saturday.  Wolfe tallied a total 28 digs (4.00 dps), seven blocks, and three assists averaging 5.29 points per set on the weekend.

Daprile, a libero from Bargersville, Ind., became the Horizon League’s all-time leader in digs last week with 1,943.  She tallied 37 digs (5.29 dps) against Youngstown State on Friday and added 26 more (6.50 dps) over Cleveland State on Saturday.  Daprile also contributed six assists to Butler’s 2-0 weekend.

Butler clinched the No. 2 seed and earned a bye into the semifinal round of the Horizon League tournament, Nov. 19-21 in Milwaukee.  The Bulldogs will play in the second match on Saturday at 3:30 local time against the highest remaining seed out of the quarterfinals.  All matches can be seen live on the Horizon League Network.
