The Butler University men's basketball team will return to postseason play for the first time since 2003 when the Bulldogs host Miami (Ohio) in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday, March 14. The two teams will square off in Hinkle Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. Eastern time.


The Bulldogs (19-12) finished runner-up in the Horizon League regular season race and then fell in the championship game of the Horizon League tournament to UW-Milwaukee. Miami (18-10) tied for second place in the East Division of the Mid-American Conference.


Butler is making its first postseason tournament appearance since 2003, when the Bulldogs advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Division I Championship. The Bulldogs have been in postseason play in eight of the past 10 years, including bids to the NIT in 1999 and 2002. Butler will make its eighth NIT postseason appearance overall.


Tickets for the NIT game between Butler and Miami (Ohio) will go on sale at the Hinkle Fieldhouse ticket office on Monday, March 13. Reserved seat tickets will be $20, general admission will be $10 and student/children (under 16) tickets will be $5. Butler season tickets will have all day Monday to claim their current seats.
