Butler Women, UW-Milwaukee Men Lead After Day One of Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Indianapolis-The men of UW-Milwaukee are on their way to capturing their fourth consecutive Horizon League Championship title after finishing day one in the top position. The Panthers finished with 68 points, while Youngstown State and Butler tied for the number two spot with 39 points. Loyola finished in third place with 20 points, while Detroit (11) and UIC (9) finished in fourth and fifth place.

UW-Milwaukee's Kyle Hubener set a new Horizon League record in the pole vault with a mark of 4.75 meters while Nick Davis (UWM) set a conference javelin record with a throw of 188'4".

On the women's side, Butler set two new Horizon League records to secure the number one spot with 38 points. Monica Behney set the league record with her 35:45.59 finish in the 10,000-meter run while Victoria Mitchell eclipsed the 3,000-meter steeplechase record by almost 24 seconds with a time of of 10:26.51.

Detroit scored 37 points to enter day two in a close second- place position. Third place belongs to Loyola (33 points), while Youngstown State ended day one with 27 points. UW-Milwaukee (22) and UIC (16) finished in fourth and fifth place positions.

Other record-breaking news includes Youngstown State's Danielle Bolt who finished the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.67. Teammate Aaliyah Gillespie smashed the 100-meter hurdle league record with a time of 14:36, while UW-Milwaukee's Stephanie Ray eclipsed the pole vault conference record (3.40 meters).

Horizon League Championship action will resume on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
