Butler's Brad Stevens Agrees To Contract Extension

INDIANAPOLIS - After completing another successful campaign at the helm of the Butler men's basketball team, head coach Brad Stevens has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with the program through the 2015-16 season. Butler University President Dr. Bobby Fong and Director of Athletics Barry Collier made the announcement on Thursday (April 2).
The Bulldogs have continued to thrive under the guidance of Stevens, who took over the reins following the team's run to the "Sweet 16" in 2007. In just two seasons, he has accumulated an impressive 56-10 overall record and a 31-5 mark in the Horizon League.
The 2009 conference coach of the year, Stevens led the Bulldogs to their third-straight regular season title in 2008-09, guiding the squad to a 26-6 overall record and the program's third-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Butler posted a school- and league-record 30-4 mark in his initial season in 2007-08, including a school-record 16 victories in conference play. Stevens also became just the sixth first-year head coach and the third-youngest coach (at 31) in NCAA Division I history to post 30 wins.
A native of Zionsville, Ind., Stevens was named Butler's 22nd men's basketball head coach on April 5, 2007 after serving the previous six seasons as an assistant with the Bulldogs.
