Indianapolis, Ind. - Butler senior Bruce Horan has been selected to compete in the 18th Annual Dell College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships to be held during Final Four Week at Hinkle Fieldhouse on the Butler University campus. The premier event, which has come to be recognized as the tip-off of Final Four weekend, is slated for 7 p.m. (EST) on Thursday, March 30. The competition will be broadcast on ESPN.

Joining Horan in the Men's 3-Point Shooting Championship will be Chris Quinn of Notre Dame, Dee Brown of Illinois and Steve Novak of Marquette. Four more players will be named to complete the eight-man field. Already entered in the Slam Dunk Contest are Maurice Ager of Michigan State, Vincent Grier of Minnesota and James White of Cincinnati. The Women's 3-Point Shooting Championship will feature Megan Duffy of Notre Dame, Nikki Blue of UCLA, Tamara James of Miami and Erin Grant of Texas Tech, with four more players to be named.

Horan finished his Butler career as the Bulldogs' all-time leader in three-point fields with 314 long-range baskets. He became the first Butler player to notch 300 three-point field goals, and he finished with the second-highest total for three-pointers in Horizon League history. He hit at least one three-pointer in each of his last 80 collegiate games, a streak that stands second in NCAA Division I history to the 88 straight games compiled by Cory Bradford of Illinois (1998-2001). Horan led the Horizon League in three-point field goals (3.42 pg) and finished third in the league in three-point field goal shooting (.411) in 2005-06. He finished his Butler career with 1,018 points.

Horan is the second Butler player to be selected to compete in the college 3-Point Championship. His former teammate, Darnell Archey, won the competition in 2003. Horan broke Archey's Butler career record for three-point field goals this past season.
