INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler’s Shelbi Burnett (Greenwood, Ind.) and Loyola’s Kelly Egan (Marlborough, Mass.) have been named the Horizon League Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of April 9 - April 15.

Burnett had one of Butler’s four individual wins over the weekend at the Pacesetter Invitational with a win in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Her time of 10:47.92 beat out seven other competitors and is one of the top-95 times in the country right now in the event. The junior also competed in the 1500-meter run and was Butler’s top finisher. She finished in third place with a time of 4:40.79.

Egan competed at the Tom Botts Invite in the javelin. The junior threw for a distance of 126-11 (38.69m) for seventh place out of 14 competitors. In the process, she smashed her own school record by over three feet. Her throw is currently the longest in the Horizon League this season.

Butler will be back in action this weekend at the Mt. Sac Relays (Walnut, Calif.) and the Polytan Invitational (Bloomington, Ind.). Loyola will also be in action, traveling to Iowa City, Iowa for the Musco Twilight Meet.
