INDIANAPOLIS - Soccer standout Connor Burt of Butler University and volleyball player Lauren Felsing of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee have been named the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athletes of the Month for November.

Burt (Elkhart, Ind./Concord), a junior, helped Butler clinch the Horizon League men's soccer regular-season title and advance to the League tournament's championship match during November. A starting defender, he led a Bulldogs defense that allowed a League-low 12 goals en route to a bid to the NCAA Championship.

In the classroom, Burt carries a 3.97 grade-point average as a marketing major. He was voted to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team and has been named to the Horizon League Academic All-League Team and Academic Honor Roll during his career.

Felsing (Hartland, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran), a senior libero, was named tournament MVP after leading Milwaukee to the Horizon League championship and automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. She also was selected the League's Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the All-League Team.

A marketing major, Felsing (pronounced FELL-sing) owns a 3.97 grade-point average and is a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, including a third-team pick this fall. Like Burt, she has been selected to the Academic All-League Team and Academic Honor Roll.

The Horizon League instituted the U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete of the Month awards as a way to recognize outstanding academic and athletic achievement by its student-athletes. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better (on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, passed 24 semesters or 36 quarter hours and perform well during the month's competition. Winners are selected by the League's faculty athletics representatives, from nominations provided by sports information directors.
