BOSTON – Butler’s Roosevelt Jones (O’Fallon, Ill./O’Fallon) earned CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshmen All-America honors, the organization announced on Tuesday. Jones was the only player in the Horizon League recognized.

Jones helped lead Butler to its seventh consecutive season with 20 or more wins, starting 31 of the 36 games in which he appeared and earning Horizon League All-Newcomer Team accolades. The 6-foot-4 forward led the Bulldogs in rebounding, averaging 6.0 rebounds per game, while adding 7.8 points per contest.

One of two freshmen in the conference to earn a player of the week accolade, Jones set the Butler record for double-doubles by a freshman (4), besting teammate Kameron Woods, Matt Howard (2007-08) and current NBA player Gordon Hayward (2008-09). Jones had three double-doubles in Butler’s final 13 games.
