Indianapolis, Ind. - Butler University senior Scott Overall and Youngstown State University junior Bethany Anderson have been named the 2007 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Year, the League office announced Tuesday, March 27.  The League's seven head track coaches voted for the athletes after the season was completed.

Overall earned the award for the second consecutive year, after becoming Butler's first indoor track and field All-American with a sixth-place finish in the mile run at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championship in Fayetteville, Ark.  He also qualified for the championships in the 3,000 meters.

Overall has claimed many awards for his performances from indoor and outdoor track and field as well as cross country.  In the fall, Overall was named the League's Cross Country Athlete of the Year after claiming the individual title at the League Championships and placing 35th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.  Last spring, Overall was named the 2006 Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season.  He was the lone Horizon League representative at the 2006 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, finishing 11th in the finals of the 5,000 meters.

Overall won 2006 Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year honors after setting a meet record in the 1,000-meter run at the Horizon League Championships and finishing 12th in the 3,000 meters at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Anderson was named the Outstanding Field Performer at the Horizon League Championships after sweeping the throwing events for the second-straight season.  This was also the third season in a row that she had taken the individual title in the shot put.  Anderson became Youngstown State's first female thrower to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships, which she accomplished by posting a mark of 63'7" in the weight throw at the Kent State Tune-Up on Feb. 17.

Anderson was also named the Outstanding Field Performer at the 2006 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  Last spring she defended her individual title in the shot put, while claiming victory in the hammer throw.

The indoor track and field Athlete of the Year awards were first handed out in 2003, and Butler student-athletes have won the men's title for the past four years.
