Butler's Porter named Horizon League Golfer of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler sophomore Julia Porter has been named Horizon League Golfer of the Week for the period of Feb. 22-28.

Porter finished runner-up out of 54 individuals (221) at the Ann Rhoads Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. The Bulldogs finished second in the 10-team event.

Porter, a native of Monrovia, Ind., shot a team-best 78 in the first round and then shared team scoring honors in the final round with a 77.

She was one of just two golfers in the 54-player field to break 80 in both rounds.

Porter will become eligible for next week’s Horizon League Network's "People's Choice" award, which is announced each Thursday afternoon.  Log on to www.HorizonLeague.com to vote.
