Senior Scott Overall will be the final Horizon League student athlete to compete in the 2005-06 school year when he begins his quest for a national title at the 2006 NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Sacramento, Calif., on Wednesday, June 7. The talented Butler University runner is scheduled to race in the men's 5,000 meter run at 11:30 p.m. (EDT) at the A. G. Spanos Sports Complex.

Overall will enter the men's 5,000 meter semifinals as the fourth-seeded competitor. He earned that spot with a school-record 13:38.19 performance in the 5,000 meter run at the Stanford Cardinal Qualifier in Palo Alto, Calif., in late April. Overall also set a Horizon League record while winning the 5,000 meter run at the league championship in 14:30.57.

Chris Solinsky of Wisconsin is the top-seeded 5,000 meter runner entered in the NCAA outdoor championship. He boasts a best time of 13:27.94.

The finals of the men's 5,000 meter run are scheduled for Friday, June 9, at 10:30 p.m. (EDT).

Butler recorded its first individual national championship in 73 years at last year's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Meet, when Victoria Mitchell won the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase. The last male track and field athlete to win a national crown for Butler was Bert Nelson, who captured the high jump title at the 1932 national meet.
