Men's Soccer Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Horizon League announced today that Butler senior midfielder Ben Sippola has been named the Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 6.

Sippola earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Wildcat Invitational over the weekend, leading the Bulldogs to the tournament championship with wins over Houston Baptist and Loyola Marymount.

Against Houston Baptist, Sippola became the ninth player in Butler history to record a hat trick, as he led the Bulldogs to a 5-1 victory.  In the tournament finale, the Northfield, Minn.-native picked up an assist on Butler's first goal of the match and iced the contest with a goal off a free kick.

Sippola picked up Goal.com Player of the Week honors, as well.

Butler, who entered the week fifth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America regional rankings, will take an undefeated 4-0 record into Rochester, Mich., on Saturday, when they face Oakland University.
