Women's Soccer Player of the Week:
Olivia Walter, Butler
Junior, Goalkeeper
Fariview, Tenn.

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler University junior goalkeeper Olivia Walter (Fairview, Tenn.) has been named Horizon League Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week beginning Oct. 4.

Walter led Butler to a 2-0 record on the week, recording shutouts in a 2-0 win at Green Bay on Friday and carrying the Bulldogs to a 1-0 victory over Milwaukee Sunday afternoon.

At Green Bay, Walter turned aside three Phoenix shots to help the Bulldogs move above .500 in Horizon League action.

The junior then posted 10 saves in Butler’s 1-0 blanking of Milwaukee, snapping the Panthers’ 37-match, home Horizon League regular-season winning streak.  For the match, Milwaukee outshot Butler, 16-2; Walter’s 10-save effort tied for the most in conference play in 2010.

The win at Milwaukee was the first for Butler since 1999.

With the two victories, Butler improved to 3-1-0 in Horizon League play, moving into a tie for third place with four conference matches remaining.

Walter will look to keep her shutout streak in tact this weekend, when the Bulldogs contest matches against the Horizon League co-leaders.  Butler will host Loyola on Friday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. ET, before traveling to Michigan to meet Detroit on Sunday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. ET.
