INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Butler senior Jessica Wolfe has been named Horizon League Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Green Bay sophomore Brittany Groth has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period of Oct. 4-10.
Wolfe, an outside hitter from Plainfield, Ind., picks up her second award this season after posting 67 kills (4.19 kills per set), helping Butler go 3-1 on the road. She registered 26 kills in a 3-2 win at Milwaukee on Saturday and added 23 in a 3-2 victory at Green Bay on Sunday, hitting .260 in both matches. Wolfe also collected 52 digs (3.25 dps), 13 blocks, six assists and two aces on the week.
Groth, a libero from Oak Creek, Wis., recorded 81 digs (6.23 dps) for the Phoenix this week, ranking No. 1 in digs per set in conference action. She tallied a career-high 36 digs against Butler on Sunday after collecting 21 digs in a sweep of Wright State on Saturday. Groth also registered three assists and one ace for the week.
Green Bay is set to host Marquette on Wednesday and resumes conference play on Saturday at Milwaukee with both matches starting at 8pm ET. Butler hosts Valparaiso on Saturday in a 7pm ET start.
